Rediscover Central Visayas

In primary and secondary highland forests and in the mangroves and wetlands, endemic species such as the Black shama, the Cebu flowerpecker and the Yellow-breasted fruit dove thrive. Bird watchers will find multi-colored birds of all shapes and sizes, showing off impressive plumage, soaring perfectly synchronized, scouring for food or roosting for the night.

Aside from the endemics, migratory species also stop over at Olango Island in Cebu twice yearly. One of the Philippines’ eight wetlands of international importance, the Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary is a refueling site for migratory species on the East Asia-Australasia flyway. About 77 different species have been spotted feeding and resting at the sanctuary.
