Rediscover Central Visayas

Many are rooted in deep faith. Big or small, no matter the reason for the celebration, visitors witness grand pageantry, partake in exuberant merriment and well-preserved traditions.

The Fiesta Senor and Sinulog happens in Cebu in January. It is the Philippines’ first and biggest with high points at the fluvial and foot processions and the High Mass at the Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino, the oldest Catholic Church in the country, and the globally-recognized, multi-awarded Sinulog street parade.

In Bohol, the entire month of July resonates with the Sandugo, in remembrance of the treaty between local chieftain Datu Sikatuna and the Spaniard Miguel Lopez de Legaspi. The festival features pageantry, street dancing and the grand homecoming of Boholanos from all over the world.

Negros Oriental’s Buglasan in October brings together the municipalities of the province for a week of exhibits, food, parties and parades.

Siquijor being home of the “mananambals” or healers, holds the Folk Healing Festival during the Holy Week.
