Manila, Philippines– The Department of Tourism (DOT) proudly announces the Philippines’ hosting of Seatrade Cruise Asia 2024, set to take place from November 11 to 13, 2024, at Shangri-La The Fort in Taguig City. Co-locating with Seatrade Maritime Crew Connect Global—the premier event for marine crewing and seafarer welfare—this major industry gathering marks a milestone in the Philippines’ growing leadership in cruise tourism and its commitment to fostering a world-class cruise hub in Asia.
Seatrade Cruise Asia 2024 will bring together over 350 international delegates, including cruise line executives, itinerary planners, port agents, and tourism authorities from across the globe. Throughout this three-day event, attendees will participate in networking sessions, learning forums, and strategic discussions aimed at propelling sustainable growth and regional collaboration in the cruise industry.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco emphasized the significance of the event in positioning the Philippines as a prime cruise destination in the region. “Hosting Seatrade Cruise Asia 2024 underscores the Philippines’ readiness and capability to lead in cruise tourism,” said Frasco. “Our archipelago’s vibrant culture, exceptional hospitality, and breathtaking natural attractions make us an ideal destination for international cruise lines and travelers,” she added.
In its bid to elevate the country’s appeal to cruise operators, the Philippines recently launched a Cruise Visa Waiver, aimed at liberalizing access and streamlining travel for international cruise passengers. These efforts, combined with the country’s recent accolades—including “Asia’s Best Cruise Destination” by the World Cruise Awards 2023, “Asia’s Best Cruise Ports of Call” from the Asia Cruise Awards 2024, and distinctions as the “World’s Leading Beach Destination,” “Leading Dive Destination,” and “Leading City Destination” by the World Travel Awards 2023—further underscore the Philippines’ appeal to global travelers.
Seatrade Cruise Asia 2024 will open with a welcome reception on November 11, showcasing Filipino heritage through captivating cultural performances. Key highlights include a keynote session on the “State of the Asian Cruise Industry” and a Ministries Dialogue on the future of cruise tourism in Asia, underscoring sustainable practices and regional synergies. The event is set to provide an essential platform for dialogue, fostering partnerships that will drive the Philippines and Asia’s cruise tourism industry forward, reinforcing the nation’s status on the global tourism stage.
